Signs of Stress

What are the signs of stress

With stress coming at us from so many sources, it can be difficult to manage. Stress affects each of us in different ways. Knowing some of the signs will help us to keep it under control.

Since stress is such an elusive condition, it can be difficult to know you are even being affected by it.

Know yourself

When things and events change in your life, the events can be cause for stress. We all handle each situation differently too. What is a major life crises to one person is just another relaxing day to someone else.

Buying a new home, changing jobs, your child’s first day of school. All these events affect each of us, whether you get stressed out or not, may just be a matter of perspective. While some will feel anxiety, others feel happiness.

Stress signs can be subtle

Subtle changes in our normal eating or sleep patterns can be a sign that stress is affecting us. More advanced signs can be depression, headaches or insomnia.

Extreme stress can also cause you to have high blood pressure or even heart disease. Some of us get tensed up and anxious when hit by stressful events in our lives. Aching muscles, backaches or even clumps of hair mysteriously falling out are all signs of extreme stress we should be aware of.

Catching stress early

Noticing the early signs of stress before they become extreme will help you get it under control. Stress is much easier to deal with if you get a grip on it early. Stress also affects how our bodies use nutrients too.

Eating healthy and getting proper nutrients in our diets helps our bodies fight stress. In fact many things we do will affect how our bodies burn nutrients. Smoking or physical activity eats up your nutrient reserves as well as stress.

With the hectic lives we live, eating healthy is nearly impossible. Taking a good multiple vitamin can help make up for any deficiencies. Having the right balance of nutrients along with some light exercise will do wonders for your stress control routine.

Relax a little, have some fun

With anything in life, good old fashioned rest and relaxation can do wonders for our ability to handle stress.

Stressed for Success

Chasing success is stressful

So many people spend most of their lives chasing success. Some of us become workaholics striving to get to the top of whatever it is we do.

Stress levels are generally higher for anyone shooting for the top. Once you get there, you can take time for yourself, relax a little, and avoid all the stress you went through to become successful.

Sources of stress and anxiety

Until you reach a comfortable place in your career, stress will be lurking around every corner. There are so many sources of stress in our lives. Whether stress comes from your family, getting stuck in traffic, or our jobs.

We get stressed out over so many events in life. From weddings to funerals, having your first child or grand child. All forms of stress add up and take a toll on our health and well being. I’ll pick on many of the causes of stress right here on this site. Then offer many solutions to relieve stress in all we do.

Picking on success

One thing for sure, jobs are a major source of intense stress and anxiety. So lets pick on jobs for starters. We spend so much of our lives working, it has become one of the biggest sources of stress for many of us. I can speak from experience when I say that the fight for the top of any career can be a real pain in the rear. If you are someone fighting to get to the head of the class, then you know what I’m talking about.

Bloody fight for the top

We fight with our bosses as well as the people we work with. It seems as though we always have to watch our backs. Talk about getting stressed out. When trying to succeed in our careers, you run into a couple of types of people. Those that are fighting to get to the same place that you are. And those that try to drag you down so they don’t look lazy when stacked up against your achievements. Either type of person brings stress attacks from different perspectives.

Easy method to beat job stress

One way I found to beat the stress out of this type of work environment is to be prepared. Most people don’t take the time to prepare when fighting for a project idea or promotion. Simply doing a little research will help you come out on top every time!

Knowing that your adversary is likely spending all their time trying undermine yours efforts. You come along as the expert and the pressure is off of you and on your adversary.

This tactic will help reduce stress at your job nearly every time. Not only do you move ahead in your career, you gain much needed confidence for future battles. Each of these battles you win also makes future battles easier to win.

Reward yourself to relieve stress

After you fight those battles at work an win. Reward yourself for winning! Reaching the top is not done in one step. You need to get there one step at a time. You’ll fight many battles that have you reaching extreme levels of stress. Take the time to reward your efforts after each win.

Go for a drive, take a mini vacation, treat yourself to a professional massage. What ever you choose to do, reward yourself for each and every one of your successes. You could even map out your goals and the rewards you give yourself at each level. Make it fun too, stress relief comes very easy when you are having fun along the way.
